The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer: My Life at Rose Red is a rare document, one that gives us an unusual view of daily life among the aristocracy in the early 1900s, a window into one woman’s hidden emotional torment, and a record of the mysterious events at Rose Red that scandalized society at the time. Edited by Joyce Reardon, Ph.D., as part of her research, the diary is being published as preparations are being made by Dr. Reardon to enter Rose Red and fully investigate its disturbing history.
IS ROSE RED REAL?
No, nor are Joyce Reardon, Ellen Rimbauer or Steven Rimbauer or Beaumont University. The novel was commissioned and written under the pseudonym of Joyce Reardon as a tie-in for the Stephen King 2002 mini series, Rose Red Several houses and circumstances have been suggested as the “Real Rose Red’ and most agree it is Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California that is the most likely. It was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester. It is quite a tourist attraction for its size, its architectural oddities, like stairs that end at blank walls, and its lack of any building plan. She built from 1884 until her death in 1922 and claimed the property, the mansion and she herself, were haunted by the ghosts of those killed with Winchester Rifles and she must keep building a home for them to ward off the more malevolent ghosts. She used the number 13 and spider webs designs throughout the house.
Note–The book is a bit wordy for the diary of a woman in the early 20th Century, which gives it a bit of a Wilkie Collins feel to it. I left out The Beaumont University promo web link. It doesn’t exist anymore, darn. While the ebook is easy to find it took some search to find an existing torrent to edit because the physical and audio books are impossible to find.

I was cleaning out old files and came across an article on the Winchester House and that triggered another thought that lead to hunting this down. I chose to use the real author’s name. Hope you like it….J

Interesting! I’ll give it a shot. I’m a Supernatural fan, so I’m guessing this is what sparked Eric Kripke to create Sam and Dean Winchester.

The first time I listened to this, it gave me nightmares. Which is strange, because I read it before, and it was just ok. But the narration somehow made it creepy, and I loved it. Thanks for the upload :D

Thank you sooooo much for this magnificent upload, Jodindy! Rose Red is my favorite horror film and I still can’t watch it alone. I read this “diary” about 6 years ago and it made my skin crawl. I was actually happy to return it to my local library and get it out of my house. This is perfect for any true horror fan. Do not read (or listen!) alone or at night. You’ll be glancing over your shoulder and eyeing every little movement in your peripherals either way, haha. I encourage all to watch the Rose Red miniseries if you haven’t! Enjoy!
