Rather than allowing the many seasons to pass & the evil manifestations to grow ever more dangerous, it’d seem the more prudent policy would be to vacate that perfect, secluded house, with extreme prejudice & alacrity.

caesar963, you ought not judge a book by the cover, or by the publisher’s summary. If you read (or listened) to the book, you would know that there isn’t an easy solution like leaving. Tho this plot twist(?), makes little sense, as later in the novel the spirit explicitly rails against the many generations of ‘invaders’ — including natives & Europeans — and expresses resentment towards all these settlers.
But beyond that, is a story of an angry immature young husband who comes to see the errors of his ways thanks to the loving patience and feminine wisdom of his wife, and thanks to a few carefully chosen words of wisdom from an extraordinarily tall, strong, noble Native American elder in his 70s (with long, solid “obsidian black hair” …because, you know, truly noble natives dont get grey hair.)
Yes, it is enough to make one gag. And the writing will (or should) make you feel like gagging too. I honestly think “dude, …” & “dooood!” are used a couple hundred times in this book. And the similes, OMG, the similes are the worst, the very worst, that you can imagine (or the best, maybe, if you’re a 14-16yo boy). I dont recall many metaphors, but lots of atrocious similes (esp those which combined things “like the best piss imaginable, and walking into an air conditioned room and …”

The book is great, but the download is corrupted. I cannot listen past 10:35:00.

My previous comment was wrong. The file is not corrupt. The application I was running the file did not like when I skipped like 10 hours at a time. For me to listen over 10:30:00, I needed to skip little by little.
